In the City Square Market there are over 60 traditional wooden chalets, offering artisan gifts, handcrafted goods, jewellery, festive decorations, and more. Along with plenty of street food & drinks: bratwurst sausages, mulled wine (Glühwein), seasonal foods — a good mix of German-style and local festive treats. There are outdoor bars and warm-up spots including a festive bar tent setup and seasonal drinking spots.

Millennium Square / Ice Cube & Winter Wonderland

There is a covered ice skating rink called the Ice Cube, a key highlight, ideal if you like a festive skate and social atmosphere. There are funfair rides and attractions: a big wheel (Ferris wheel in Victoria Gardens), carousels, winter-themed rides / games, which is nice if you’re going with kids or friends. More festive stalls around the rink & funfair — food, gift stalls, cosy spaces to hang out.

Boutique & Artisan Markets

Outside the big city-centre markets: there’s the Sunny Bank Mills Christmas Market, 28th to 30th November 2025 in Farsley / Pudsey showcasing independent artists, makers, handcrafted items, prints, ceramics, etc. There is also the Little Bird Artisan Market at Bond Court (just off Park Row) runs Thursday to Sunday, 20th November to 21st December, good spot for unique gifts, candles, local crafts if you want something less touristy than the main market.

Who’s it good for & why go

If you like festive shopping, with handmade and artisan gifts, decorations, local crafts in the City Square, Little Bird and Sunny Bank Mills give a nice variety.

If you’re after festive fun: ice skating, rides, winter-fair atmosphere in the Millennium Square / Ice Cube is hard to beat.

Families have a good mix of food, rides, shopping plus away from crowds artisan markets if you want something quieter.

Manchester Christmas Market
